| San Frantico is two-and-a-half minutes of breakneck soul jazz, featuring Eddie Roberts’s familiar chicken-scratch guitar and a Hammond B3 that purrs, growls and screams.
The B side, Chocolate Chip features a fabulous repetitive swirling piano hook that really drives the track along. Add in flute by guest Chip Wickham, crispy drums, throbbing bass and subtle guitar for a classic NMS groove. Very much a Sonny Lester sound.
Produced (like all NMS records) by guitarist Eddie Roberts, these are the first cuts to emerge from the forthcoming record ‘Ten Years On’ - the band’s sixth studio album since they formed in Leeds in 1999.
